How do I ensure that I get credit for my events?
The goal of our system is to create an environment which captures natural use patterns for each person and doesn’t stand in the way of staff doing what’s most important: caring for their patients. The calculations and algorithms in place are backed by rigorous study in multiple environments - we test, and then we test again!
That said, there are also ways that you can directly impact your success, as well as the success of the system as a whole:
Wear your tag “in the zone” to ensure its visibility. During a dispense event, each Guardian™ scans the area for tags within its given range. Tags inside pockets, bags, or under multiple layers of clothing are obscured, and will not transmit as strongly as tags which are worn on the surface.
We recommend upper- or mid-torso placements for tags on the body.
- Lanyards: A lanyard worn around the neck will position your tag mid-torso
- Collar clips: A tag clip worn at the collar or shirt-pocket region will also position your tag at upper-torso height
- Belt Clips: A tag clip worn at the waist may also be (marginally) beneficial for taller individuals versus higher on the torso
- Wear your Mirador tag separately from other tags. This may initially seem cumbersome, but the added bulk of multiple tags on one clip or lanyard can become painful over time. Our tags are extremely light weight - only 14 grams / less than one ounce! - but wearing your Mirador tag on the left-lapel region, and name tag on the right-lapel region can help balance the distribution of items and prevent unnecessary dangling or pulling. If you or your team would like Mirador-branded clips and lanyards, let us know!
- Know that walking past an in-room Guardian™ will wake it up, and capture the timestamp of your entry and exit within a room, regardless of whether you dispense or not. We have worked with your internal teams during implementation to place each dispenser at its most advantageous location - in wider vestibules or open doorways, however, walking past a dispenser on the closer side, not the further, can ensure your signal is captured at its strongest point.
During a dispense event, each Guardian™ scans the area for tags within its given range. We know that users are often in a hurry, and have accommodated for “fly by” dispenses to the greatest extent of what an autonomous system will allow. Even with such accommodations in place, however, we have found this simple “hack” to be the most effective in ensuring accuracy: stand in front of the dispenser while you’re rubbing the liquid into your hands. This is easier with soap, since this is all (probably) happening in front of a sink, but just a few seconds spent facing a dispenser immediately after an ABHR event can be impactful to signal clarity - especially if you’re a fast walker! - so be sure to always Activate, Sanitize and then Move On.
- Activate: walk up to a Guardian™ with your tag unobstructed and facing the dispenser (on clip, on lapel, on lanyard, etc.)
- Sanitize: spend a few seconds in front of the dispenser, rubbing the foam into your hands until dry
- Move On: That’s it! You can enter the room, proceed down the hallway, or otherwise continue with patient care.
If you find consistent issues with any of the above - for example, entry and exit timestamps not registering accurately, or usage (soap or sanitizer) events processing as untagged - please let your Mirador Administrator know. We can work with your team to review the data captured, ensure your tag is active, and examine unique areas for maximum coverage when necessary.
